Amanda has over a decade of experience in strategic and innovative public health communications, marketing, and editorial leadership positions within national health advocacy organizations. Her bylines have appeared in various print and digital publications includingPBS,INSIDER,Care.com,WhatToExpect.com,Parents, andBabyCenter.com.

For over eight years, she was the lead editor ofHealthyChildren.org, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) official parenting website. In her role, she worked closely with many expert pediatricians, subspecialists, and researchers to develop a wide range of evidence-based content from pregnancy, infant and children’s health and development, injury prevention, mental health, school health, nutrition, rare disease, chronic conditions, developmental disabilities, infectious diseases, vaccines, disasters and emergencies, health insurance, health policy, substance use, medications, and adolescent medicine.

As a working mother of three, including a child with autism and ADHD, she is also an advocate for the health, wellness, and rights of children with special healthcare needs and learning differences, their siblings, and their caregivers.

Education

Amanda is a graduate of Boston University’s inaugural class with a Master of Science in Health Communication where she studied epidemiology as it relates to digital health communications. There, she developed a research interest in digital health behaviors within the field of public health.

She also holds post-graduate certification in medical writing and editing from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s in English writing from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame.
